  • Tea gardens in Chalsa have been closed since 2015 by the tea bord of Govt of India citing insects in the gardens as reason, the CM also claimed  that an assurance was given but it was never done

Mamata Banerjee criticises ban imposed in private tea gardens, claims it's causing unemployment

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was In Chalsa of Alipurduar today accused the centre of creating unemployment in the region due to close of private tea gardens  and claims ten  lakh people have been unemployed  due to this and hence there is a serious crisis in livelihood.

The Chief Minister also interacted with the locals and also made tea at a local shop,  the private tea gardens have been closed since 2015 by  the tea board of Govt of India citing  insects in the gardens as  a major reason and post 2015 the tea gardens have remain closed, the CM also claimed that an assurance was given by tea board for a solution  of the matter but it did not happen so, the CM has given assurance to take up the matter and solve the matter post election.
